12 - 1 ½ cups coleslaw mix
13 - 3 tbsp mayonnaise
14 - 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
15 - Salt and pepper, to taste

# Directions:

01 - Place chicken breasts or thighs evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
02 - Combine barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly.
03 - Pour sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring all surfaces are coated.
04 - Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours, until chicken pulls apart easily.

06 - In a bowl, toss coleslaw mix with mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
07 - Spoon portions of pulled BBQ chicken onto the bottom halves of buns. Layer coleslaw, then cap with the top bun.
08 - Serve sandwiches promptly while warm.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The slow cooker does the heavy lifting, so you can relax or tidy up while flavors deepen.
  • The barbecue sauce clings to every strand of chicken, making each bite punchy and satisfying.
02 -
  • Overcooking chicken on high sometimes makes it stringy rather than tender—low and slow always wins for texture.
  • Adding the coleslaw right before serving prevents it from getting soggy; crunchy slaw is best.
03 -
  • Let shredded chicken rest in sauce for a few extra minutes—the flavors meld so much better.
  • Finishing the sandwich with a few pickle slices or jalapeños brings a zippy surprise.
