A cooling blend of ripe mango puree and black tea, ideal for summer gatherings and hot weather.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Tea Base

01 - 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea
02 - 2 cups boiling water

→ Mango Puree

03 - 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced, or 1 cup frozen mango cubes
04 - 2 cups water

→ Sweetener & Serving

05 - 2 tablespoons honey or to taste
06 - Ice cubes as needed
07 - Fresh mango slices for garnish (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Place the tea bags in a large pitcher and pour in 2 cups of boiling water. Let steep for 10 minutes, then remove the tea bags and discard.
02 - Combine the diced mango and 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, mashing the mango occasionally to create a smooth puree.
03 - Pour the hot mango mixture through a fine mesh sieve into the pitcher containing the steeped tea. Press down with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible, discarding any remaining pulp.
04 - Stir in the honey until completely dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness level if desired by adding more honey.
05 - Allow the mango iced tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until thoroughly chilled.
06 - Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over. Garnish with fresh mango slices on the rim of each glass if desired.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The mango puree creates natural sweetness and body without needing artificial syrups or powders
  • Black tea provides just enough caffeine and depth to balance the fruity sweetness perfectly
  • You can make a big batch ahead and keep it in the fridge for impromptu guests
02 -
  • Do not skip straining the mango puree or you will have fibrous bits that make the drinking experience unpleasant
  • The tea will taste sweeter when cold so slightly undersweeten before chilling
  • Fresh mango makes all the difference but frozen works in a pinch, just thaw before cooking
03 -
  • Use slightly underripe mangoes if you prefer natural tartness over pure sweetness
  • Green tea makes a lovely lighter version that is perfect for afternoon sipping
  • Always chill your serving glasses in the freezer for ten minutes before pouring
